As mentioned before, the SotG post will only go up now when we have things to say. After a couple of difficult months personally for the moderators, we're trying to get back on track!

As always, we appreciate the feedback received from players and hope to adjust things accordingly to make the game a smoother, stress-free experience for all. We're here for fun and we want to make that as easy to achieve as possible!

This post will highlight the changes we made, updates planned, housekeeping items, and the most recent list of claims, check-in warnings, and drops.

ANNOUNCEMENTS & UPDATES

While we will mention updates as well on our mod plurk and Discord server, we're repeating them here for folks who don't have one.

⁂ Please take the time to respond to this poll regarding invitations for the game. After some discussion between the moderators, we want to see if lifting the invitation requirement might help bring some new players in and keep the game from stagnating.

⁂ The quest board has been revised. While we originally intended for it to be something players used to build up their reputation in the setting to access new areas, the smaller size and pace of the game made it feel more like an obstacle. We don't want it to seem like we're withholding anything from players, so we'll be changing how the quest board works.

Rather than reputation, quests will reward bonds correlating to difficulty level. 1 star quests = 1 Bond. That way, we can still proceed with metaplot and world setting updates while players are free to use their bonds to influence the setting and their own reputations.

⁂ Reputation has been moved to the locations page! See what different places dragonbonded know of and how they feel so far about them being here. These will change over time and through character action, so as always please let us know what you and yours are up to so we can adjust accordingly!

⁂ Additionally on the locations page, people can now submit new locations they'd like to see added. Whether this be through gaining a business license, the summoning circle pulling them in, or direct player changes to the setting (like the lake), players are encouraged to let us know about what has been added to the world so it can be reflected on this page appropriately.

⁂ The calendar has been updated for July! Previous months will be in headers on the page as a 'timeline' of sorts for players to look back on or refresh themselves about happenings in-game. Make sure to utilize this to know what the weather is like or any mini-events that might be coming up!

While we strive to be prepared and start each month off with something new and fun, April was just not kind to either of your head moderators. Rather than push out an event just to have it done, we wanted to take a bit more time to ensure it was what we were both satisfied with and comfortable bringing to the playerbase.

As of right now, the goal is for the event and plotting post to be up on Monday, May 5th. If this changes, we'll let everyone know ASAP!

⁂ The quest board has been updated! We've added all the currently player suggested quests and also adjusted reputation earned to help characters earn it more quickly. While originally we wanted new areas to be unlocked with reputation, we're re-configuring that and deciding on what else should be the reward for hitting certain milestones (like 100) so as to not impede metaplot progress planned!

⁂ Although Chai thought (really hard) that they put this on the activity page already, we've added a small bullet point about what happens with bonds when someone drops. Basically: We still encourage people to hash out/summarize how a thread would have gone when they're informed of someone dropping! If that isn't possible, we'll leave it to the remaining player to decide the best outcome for their character when summarizing for bonds.

⁂ After some feedback and re-evaluating the activity reward system, we've made an adjustment to the way it works! Our goal was to incentivize activity, not limit or punish people, and hopefully these changes reflect that. You can see the updates on the activity page under How do bonds work? But for the simple version: players will now be allowed to 'bank' any excess threads to submit in future months to hit the 20 a month bond cap.

⁂ Since we are leaving activity rewards up to players to keep track of and submit, we wanted to highlight how it should be done since a few people now have enough bonds for rewards! Players can simply mention the points they are spending for their reward in that month's activity comment.

For things like extra character slots or setting additions, we'll double-check to make sure but, again, are trusting players to handle this themselves. We'll also give the chance for players to edit accordingly to add bonds, claim rewards, etc. if need be for November until December 4th!

⁂ We will be honest here and say we completely forgot about The King of Misrule crowning from the last event. We apologize for this and have since crowned a winner as well as give consolation prizes to others who participated. We hope everyone enjoys!

⁂ Character tags, as some may have noticed, weren't readily accessible to players. This is because Dreamwidth has a silly thing where administrator entered tags can't be seen by regular members until used at least once... by the administrator. We've added the current tags to the log template post on the logs comm and a private post in the network comm to allow them to be accessible to members going forward. Tags will be added regularly with claims that come in/are processed. If we're missing any or need to correct them, please let us know!

⁂ We will be updating the quest board in December! Since most of the quests were completed and we have some wonderful suggestions for new ones, we'll take the 'downtime' this month to update, fine-tune, and hopefully give people something to look forward to with side quests. We appreciate people's engagement with it and suggestions!

Hooray, we survived the first month of running a game!

Thanks to everyone for their feedback and bearing with our growing pains as we tweak, adjust, and update some things as necessary. This post will serve to outline all that as well as bring up some topics to discuss that have been floated by us.

⁂ We have a profile navigation code now for the mod journal and comms! It was one of the things overlooked initially, but then frustrated Chai when they were trying to click around to do moderator things.

⁂ Character tags have been added to the comms! We also tagged the relevant characters in the mod log and posts we saw up so far! They'll be added regularly going forward with claims that come in/are processed, but we needed a minute to catch up from the initial game opening wave. If we're missing any or need to correct them, please let us know!

⁂ After some discussion about the quest board, we decided to add rolls to clear each quest! We'll still process & acknowledge people who submit for them but wanted people to be able to determine how successful - or not - they were on open quests without having to wait on us.

⁂ Another update to the quest board mechanics is clarification on the time frame. For open quests, we do still ask that people only officially submit for them every seven (7) days. We're happy that people are enjoying them but also want to make sure no one is trying speed run reputation as we want the world to open up in a more gradual, organic process.

However: This is only for officially submitting for a quest on the page. If you want to start a log or thread before you're allowed to submit for an open quest, that's totally fine! The point of them is mostly to be an extra way for players to engage in the setting if an event isn't to their fancy, they want to focus on reputation, etc. Once you're allowed to, you can submit for the quest and link the started thread with your rolls to receive rewards.

⁂ The locations page has been updated! The town of Ich and the Talahee Forest are - as of the event going up - free for players to now travel to and from. While reputation will eventually unlock other areas, this one was planned to be a 'freebie' from the start! We're still discussing the next location to open up to players and will update the quest page accordingly once we do decide.

⁂ After seeing some people do both a check-in and bond submission, we wanted to clarify you only need to do one or the other. If you turned in activity/bonds, then you don't need to check-in! Alternatively, if you have no bonds to submit you only need to check-in. We provided examples of both simply to show the differences, not indicate that you needed to do both types. We apologize for any confusion!

As a few quick notes:

⁂ The Town Town Hall Meeting is up and serves as a game opening mingle! Our first real, proper event will be November 1st.
⁂ While a month might seem like a long time, we want to encourage people to use the the quest board to get themselves established in the community and building reputation if they want something to do!
⁂ Character claims are always open until we hit the player cap! So, please keep checking back on this post for new players or characters that might be added to ensure everyone receives a warm welcome!

Most of all, we want people to have fun and let us know if your character gets up to anything good, bad, or whatever! All of it will influence the world around them and potentially have benefits or consequences.
