GAME OPENING OOC INTRO POST

OOC INTRO & PLOTTING
Hello and welcome to Children of Bahamut!

This OOC post will be for all your introductory plotting needs! While there will be plotting posts for events once they officially start in November and on, we wanted to give everyone a space to outline their initial thoughts and plans to get started strong.

You can use the form below! If you play more than one character, you're free to make a top-level for just your relevant player information and comment beneath with each respective character.

OOC Into Template
As a few quick notes:
⁂ The Town Town Hall Meeting is up and serves as a game opening mingle! Our first real, proper event will be November 1st.
⁂ While a month might seem like a long time, we want to encourage people to use the the quest board to get themselves established in the community and building reputation if they want something to do!
Character claims are always open until we hit the player cap! So, please keep checking back on this post for new players or characters that might be added to ensure everyone receives a warm welcome!

Most of all, we want people to have fun and let us know if your character gets up to anything good, bad, or whatever! All of it will influence the world around them and potentially have benefits or consequences.

⁂ TJ
Contact: Ursys @ discord or PM, I may also end up dusting off my Plurk [plurk.com profile] cloverborn again, we'll see
About: Depends on the day. I'm TJ! Furry, artist, tabletop GM, and chronically, inescapably nerdy about talking animals. I've been experimenting a lot in trying to hit my stride in DWRP after years of sticking to OC RP on message boards and Discord, and to be completely honest I had been considering throwing in the towel until I heard CoB was launching. It's enough of a perfect storm of some of my biggest interests period that I decided to give it a shot and go all in with a muse I've known and loved for a very long time. I'm feeling pretty optimistic about my activity here since I'm already writing this guy on an almost daily basis in private stuff, but IRL does have a knack for pulling the rug out on me. Case in point, I went from a double flu infection into hurricane Helene and was completely offline for most of last month. Yaaay...

But anyway - I love love LOVE both dragons and possession/body-sharing stories in just about any and every presentation, so I am beyond excited to be here! Feel free to give me a poke anytime for basically whatever strikes your fancy; I'm on EST but tend to keep pretty weird hours.

⁂ PLOT WITH ME
Character: Gethen Daybreak (The Wayfinder)
Canon: Guild Wars 2
Canon Point: Janthir Wilds, end of Act II
Age: 30 years
Dragon Bond: Othokent Noachi, blue dragon - Othokent wasn't exactly a hermit, but they certainly weren't exactly... social. They were studying electrical engineering and could nearly always be found practically living in the great library. Chewing energizing herbs to allow them to study for longer periods of time, they could be jittery and spook easily. If you engaged them on their favorite topic, you would find a fun, pleasant conversation partner. They loved teaching others of their favorite subjects, but thankfully they were respectful enough to know when to release someone from their presence.

For more info from here forward, feel free to take a peek at their little WIP info post!

About Your Blorbo: Geth's an assassin first and an MMO protagonist second. He spent a solid chunk of his life hunting down his protagonist counterpart with the intent of killing him, and only has two expacs under his belt as far as adventures he's been personally front-and-center for. Despite his vengeful history, he's a pretty reserved and soft-spoken guy who's very choosy about when he actually shows his teeth. Considering he's as much of a busybody as you'd probably expect of a quest-hungry hero, he'll be all over the place, sticking his nose in pretty much everyone's business.

Game Plan(s): He's going to start by hunting for opportunities to get his hero on, first and foremost! If anyone needs help with anything at all, he'll at the very least be paying attention. Longer-term, I get the feeling he'll end up on track to become a bit of a handyman, probably a bit less nosy and a little more industrious. I'd love to build up enough steam for a proper workshop at some point so Geth can offer his own crafts for people - tools, decor, maybe even some gizmos once he's all cozied up with Othokent.
Interested In: I'm looking at a few fronts here!
  • Investigations! Geth's in full scouting mode after first arrival, he'll absolutely be out in the field with anyone else inclined to explore the limits of their present situation and gather any useful information for gaining a bit more agency around here.

  • Hunting & gathering! Ranger's gotta range, y'know? Most of his downtime will be going towards getting to know the local wildlife and gathering up supplies from nature. Old Jim and the Rat King are definitely on his to-do list here, and those are the sort of tasks he'd love some extra hands for.

  • Making stuff! Geth's tool selection is pretty severely limited right now, but some TDM developments got me really excited about getting him started on contributing his crafts right out of the gate. I'm looking for both clients and fellow crafters to get some ideas cooking for an initial project or two, and of course to get that CR rolling.

I'm also not picky on what kind of CR he ends up finding! I'm fully expecting that some people might really get frustrated with his nosiness, but of course I would also like to make sure he's finding at least a couple friends.

And on a slightly different note - I would love to plot some history between dragons! As already mentioned, I usually do OC RP, so I'm pretty eager to look into laying the groundwork for potential future drama between Gethen and his neighbors based on experiences that Othokent had shared with some of their fellow wyrms in life. Friends, lovers, enemies, colleagues, I'm all ears if you've got an idea! ^^

Anything else?

I've only recently developed an interest in Guild Wars 2, thanks to a few friends. I'm still not sure what the story is about, especially since I'm only getting started, but I'm looking forward to playing Regis alongside Gethen.

I just hope Gethen does not mind meeting an elderly former king. Regis eventually becomes a "black mage" or sorcerer in this world due to his affinity for magic.

So maybe these two could assist each other on a few hunts?

Oh, excellent!! If you ever need/want another buddy ingame you can always give me a shout, I have severe alt-itis and revisit early game pretty often, hahah. Geth does also have an opt-out post if you would like to dodge spoilers ♡ I'm not super familiar with XV myself yet but have been meaning to take the plunge when I have the time, so right back atcha ^^

Geth doesn't mind royalty! The Legions don't really have any in his time, and he does know from experience that royals are definitely not all cut from the same (irritating) cloth. Regis's status would probably draw him in once he knows about it, at least while he's still trying to gauge who all around here he should be prioritizing diplomacy with. ;D

And he is also a caster himself as a druid! He only (semi) recently started training that and is still very much learning to wrap his head around casting more traditional spells in general. They could definitely do some hunting together if you're up for that, but Geth could also hit up Regis for some arcane study, too, especially once dragon changes start really hitting.

Do you have any plans for the welcome log right now? I'd be down to get them started there if you like, or we could buddy up for some questing-

I will keep you mind! My Sylvari is a ranger, and I did level skip him to 80 for the sake of the guild wars content. I just haven't played in a few weeks.

I'll take a look at your opt-out post in a bit, but honestly, I don't mind spoilers! I am decades late to this game, after all. Therefore, spoilers are completely fine for me.

Regis isn't likely to introduce himself as a royal outside of the townhall meeting with Charlie. In his opinion, Regis isn't a king anymore but his dragon, Svern, is most certainly a former diplomat. Regis can never escape politics but once his knee is all healed up, he's going to start exploring.

Arcane study! Regis is going to have his nose in the books, almost literally. He's an avid reader and a long time magic practitioner. Regis won't leave not one stone uncovered in his quest for arcane mastery. So, Geth has a good potential mentor.

I was thinking of top-leveling for Regis, especially since not too many people tagged into the welcome log. Granted, many of us are still finishing threads in the TDM. However, I will make a top-level there for all those interested.

I'm also willing to tag you if you decide to top-level for Geth.

Sounds good on both counts! No pressure on the gaming front ofc, but if you do want to get in touch feel free to send Geth some ingame mail and/or drop me a line on discord. ^^

I'm super here for them to be study buddies, yeah - Geth has a lot to learn and has a bit of a weird angle on casting in general as a druid, but Othokent was a very avid reader. Even if he's not rushing to do a lot of book learning and arcane experimentation now, he most definitely will be as changes and personality shifts start to really kick in. Getting to know how magic works here is going to be high on is priority list in the meantime too, though, just so he has a better idea of what to expect and ways to engage. I get the feeling they might get to commiserate on the diplomacy thing once they've had some time to settle in and warm up.

I'd be happy to tag in if you run a TL, but I am also planning to post one for Gethen once I'm a bit more energized! I was going to hit that today actually, but got a little sidetracked with a different RP, lol.

Huge fan of GW2, even if I can't really play it anymore (combination of Bad At Game and Not Enough Brain to sit and do one thing for multiple hours at a time), super interested in seeing your guy in action.

Also, fellow assassin here, even if a very, very different kind, hahaha. Love to try throwing them at each other sometime!

I'm a pretty casual player myself these days, for similar reasons. Short of story content I pretty much just coast doing guild RP every now and again. Really excited to try him out here on DW though, and I'm glad you find him interesting! ^^

Honestly, I'm really interested in potential CR with Bucky! They might have a bit to relate on in terms of backstory. But either way, definitely agreed - I'd love to see how they fare together on an investigation or a hunt/pursuit of some kind, maybe some questing or future event stuff?

I bought the End of Dragons expac and then never finished it /head in hands. I enjoy coasting around a map doing completion but then you have to do a long instance or a big battle and I just drift off to play a gatcha game instead

I'm considering a questing log in the next couple days, so maybe we can throw them together again there :D There's a couple fighting-things or protecting-things options we could go for together. Goblins maybe?

Oh mood. EoD is among my top three, but the first few acts are definitely on the slow side, lol.

I was thinking about doing the same, so that works for me! Goblins was on my list for a starting point. Maybe we can round up a party for it? Gethen would definitely be trying-

TJ WITH THE GW2

I haven't finished a previous expansion but I adore GW2. Elidibus is here for whatever you want with him.

[personal profile] giftoffamily 2024-10-08 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
SHESHA!! I was so excited when I saw/heard you'd hopped over here lol, I would love to do more with Elidibus! (Also YES I love finding more gw2 peeps!! I am completely hooked on the latest expac, which issss kinda saying something after how mad I got at Secrets of the Obscure, oops)

Plotting wise, while I think we would have to play it by ear a bit for Geth and Elidibus initially, I AM looking for some past bonds between dragons, and it sounds to me like Othokent and Nannan had some shared interests! If you're up for it I think that sort of connection could be a fun point to dig into once dragon bonds pick up a little more, I know Gethen would be curious ;o He'll want to check out/get to know the Elpis crew anyway, he already bugged Emet a bit on the TDM-

HOLDS YOU AND GETH GENTLY LIKE BURGER

I never personally finished Path of Fire, but I kept up with the story until End of Dragons. I'm not ENTIRELY out of the loop....but.... it has been A While since I played my plant lady. Elidibus, however, knows nothing and will be fascinated to learn about Tyria and all the stuff it has going on.

Yeah their dragons definitely sound like they would have gotten along like a house on fire in the past, and I'm willing to play that up as much as it works!

They're both super nosy which will be fun to see them interact at first.

[personal profile] giftoffamily 2024-10-13 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
IS HOLD--

Yeah I was also considering that nosy aspect, lol. Geth should be pretty amenable to trading questions, too, as opposed to like. Stalking and snooping around. He'd probably only do the latter if talking doesn't get him anywhere.

I'll stick a pin in things for Kent and Nannan for now, not seeing/planning much on the dragon side of things at the moment, but these ideas should be fun to tap into later. I'm kicking around some potential doubt down the road on Gethen's part for his relationships with people whose patrons have history with his, questioning his free will and all that. ;D

For a start, if you want Gethen can just swing by to say hello? Either stopping by Elidibus's spot at the meeting or something a bit more private. He might bring some small offering/gift with him, since he seems to be on track to visit several people he assumes to be gods right now.
zodiheart: (31)

[personal profile] zodiheart 2024-10-14 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
Heck yeah! Long cons are great.

I finally got my post up on the meeting so feel free to hit him up! He can swing by and learn about strawberries or help Elidibus pick his food.

Gethen.... you're not right, really? But you're not entirely wrong. They're not....gods. But also not.... not gods. Ancients, man.

ON MY WAY AT LAST, LOL...

By Gethen's standards, I think they probably count?? The Six are pretty similar, save for having a wider scale of influence? I think? They're also technically aliens, so that's fun.

I OPEN MY ARMS FOR YOU AND GETHEN

It's okay if dragons can be aliens why not gods also.
